30 Sayings To Live By

There is a long standing tradition of passing sayings to live by from one generation to the next. Here is my attempt to partake in that tradition.

Sayings To Live Byy

I thought it could be fun to post 30 sayings to live by that often go through my head when I am pondering how to improve myself or help others be awesome. Believe it or not, most of my thoughts are one-liners. Perhaps I watched too many 80’s action hero movies when I was young.

The key to getting the most out of this post is spending some time pondering each one. Not all of them are straightforward and serious. Much of my day is pondering sarcastic and ironic remarks others or I make. This means if you read one and it seems obviously false, just think about it a little longer.

These are my sayings, so take them with a grain of salt.

1-10 of Sayings To Live By

“Try counting today how many times you failed at treating others as yourself. You might be surprised how big of a jerk you are.”

“You could’ve been a saint by now if you would have spent the time you nagged your spouse on reforming yourself.”

“Change is hard when you don’t really want to change. Sort of wanting to change will never bring about the transformation you seek.”

“Marriage is good, unless you make it suck.”

“It just might be that God would have you be sanctified through a difficult marriage.”

“You often consider how love is patient, until you don’t get your own way.”

“You love justice except when you are the one who did the wrong.”

“God said ‘Let there be light’ and then you drew the curtains.”

“I try to get inspired every day. This way I can just feel like I am changing without actually doing so.”

“Do yourself a favor and stop saying, “God made me this way.” God doesn’t create jerks, he just allows them.”

“Freedom is not the ability to do otherwise; freedom is the ability to choose the right good, at the right time, and in the right way.”

“In the end, everyone fails in this life, for we will all die.”

“Be mindful of the present all you want, just don’t forget you still have to face judgment in the end.”

“People say fear tactics don’t work.  Maybe that’s why so many of us are boldly proclaiming marriage is between one man and one woman for life.  You see . . . fear works.”
